Youth Center

1990 marked the opening of the Youth Center, in response to an obvious void in the
community as far as meeting the very real needs of inner city young people goes. After
seventy-five years of service, Bethesda Mission felt that the skills aquired in reparing
broken lives could be applied effectively to the prevention of such human destruction.
We offer a safe, nurturing environment where kids can be kids and learn how to
discover their purpose and fulfill their potential. The youth learn to express themselves
in fun and creative ways, and gain valuable life skills. They are given opportunities for
service to put to use what they have learned.
The after school program serves inner city youth ages 7-18 years old. Our typical week
consists of Spiritual Development classes, Creative Learning classes, Arts and Crafts,
Worship time, recreation, snacks, lots of fun, and whatever the needs of the children
dictate.
During the summer break, we run an all day program for 8 9 weeks. We offer
classes in the morning, lunch, and afternoon field trips. This is a great time to get into
the kids world and really mentor them. It is a fun time, as well as a learning time.
